What is VSAT ?
The Very Small Aperture Technology (VSAT) is a compact and cost effective satellite solution for Internet access. It consists of a small dish, which needs a clear unobstructed view to the northern sky. The satellite dish and the satellite indoor unit are connected via two standard coaxial cables. The antenna both sends requests to the Internet and receives Internet content via the satellite, which is in orbit approximately 36,000 km above the equator. The satellite communicates with the Telkom Hub, which has a direct connection to the Internet backbone. Inside your home or company, the VSAT consists of a satellite indoor unit that attaches to your home or office PC through an Ethernet port. No telephone lines or dial-up accounts are needed.
